ATW Solar Indonesia Receives Award for Supporting Solar-Powered Electricity Access in Sumba

Jakarta, April 22, 2026 — ATW Solar Indonesia has been recognized by HighEnd Magazine at the Indonesia’s Beautiful Women (IBW) 2026 awards for its contribution to the Beauty with a Purpose (BWAP) initiative alongside Miss Indonesia 2025, Audrey Bianca Callista.

Through the “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang” program, the initiative supports the provision of solar-powered electricity access for the community of Letepalolo Village in Kodi District, Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara.

The award was received by Albert Nathaniel, Head of Residential at ATW Solar Indonesia, during the award ceremony held in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

For the first time, Indonesia’s Beautiful Women introduced a dedicated Beauty with a Purpose segment to recognize partners that have contributed to social initiatives led by Miss Indonesia as part of her journey to Miss World 2026.

“Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang” for Letepalolo Village

Letepalolo Village, located in Kodi District, Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, continues to face limited access to electricity, affecting various aspects of daily life. After sunset, many residents rely on basic lighting sources such as candles and kerosene lamps, making it more difficult for children to study and limiting community activities during the evening.

In response to these challenges, Miss Indonesia 2025 Audrey Bianca Callista initiated the “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang” program as part of the Miss World Organization’s Beauty with a Purpose platform. The initiative focuses on providing more reliable access to electricity through solar energy technology for the people of Letepalolo Village.

Improved access to lighting supports daily activities after dark and creates a more comfortable environment for learning, community gatherings, and other evening activities. The program also highlights the potential of renewable energy to help address electricity access challenges in remote areas.

Building Energy Infrastructure and Empowering Communities

As a partner in the initiative, ATW Solar Indonesia supported the development of solar energy infrastructure designed to help meet the electricity needs of the local community while supporting the long-term sustainability of the program.

One of the key components of the project is a community hall equipped with a solar power system with a capacity of approximately 4.4 kWp. The facility serves as a shared space for community gatherings and social activities, while also functioning as a learning center where children can study with adequate lighting during the evening.

In addition, solar-powered lighting systems were installed in 38 households, enabling residents to carry out daily activities after sunset while reducing dependence on candles and kerosene lamps.

To support the long-term operation of the systems, ATW Solar Indonesia also provided solar maintenance training for local residents. Through this training, community members gained basic knowledge and practical skills to operate and maintain the systems independently.

A Commitment to Expanding Access to Clean Energy

ATW Solar Indonesia’s involvement in the Beauty with a Purpose initiative reflects the company’s commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable energy across Indonesia. Through the deployment of solar energy solutions, ATW Solar Indonesia continues to support initiatives that help address electricity access challenges, particularly in communities where reliable power remains limited.

The “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang” program demonstrates how solar energy can contribute to improving access to electricity while supporting community development. Through the installation of solar-powered infrastructure and the transfer of essential maintenance knowledge, the initiative is designed to deliver long-term benefits for the people of Letepalolo Village.
